Jewellery Care Guide

Whether you own a 925 sterling silver bracelet, fine jewelry, or treasured accessories, proper care ensures lasting elegance. Here’s your go-to guide, inspired by boutique standards and tailored for maximum shine and longevity.

1. Daily Wear & Maintenance

  • Avoid chemicals: Protect your silver and fine jewelry from perfumes, deodorants, hairspray, nail polish remover, and lotions. These can dull finishes and accelerate tarnishing.

  • Remove before exposure: Always take off your jewelry before swimming, applying body oils or sunscreen, and showering—especially with precious metals like silver or gold vermeil.

  • Store smartly: Keep each piece separately—use pouches, jewelry boxes, or rolls to prevent scratching and tangling. In humid climates, add a silica gel packet to minimize tarnish. Store in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent fading of delicate stones.

2. Cleaning & Polishing

  • Regular gentle cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or chamois to lightly polish your pieces every few weeks—or after each wear—to remove oils and maintain shine.

  • Deeper clean: Mix mild dish soap with warm water, soak for a few minutes, gently clean with a soft toothbrush if needed, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry with a soft cloth.

  • For sterling silver: Use a dedicated silver polishing cloth to restore luster when tarnished. Avoid abrasive dips or harsh cleaners.

3. Gemstone-Specific Care

  • Gemstones & pearls: Clean with mild soap and a soft brush, then dry gently. Store separately to avoid scratches. Avoid soaking porous gems like turquoise or lapis lazuli—water and oils can seep in and cause damage.

  • Sun-sensitive stones: Keep away from prolonged sunlight—gemstones like amethyst, rose quartz, and smoky quartz may fade over time in direct light.

4. Gold & Plated Jewelry

  • Even though 14k solid gold holds its color well and resists oxidation, it’s soft. Avoid exposure to chemicals and be cautious of scratches. Clean gold similarly to silver, using mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth or brush.
